ENCUADRA LA IMAGEN
THE BODY
FRAMES THE IMAGE
A digital image begins as numerical information. It can be modified, updated, and displayed in many ways; Hansen therefore argues that it no longer functions as a fixed viewpoint on reality. What appears on a screen is one possible actualization of that data, not raw information.
For this information to become an image, it needs a frame: a selection that establishes what can be perceived. The technical frame supplied by a camera, software, or screen does part of this work, but it does not complete it.
The body also frames. Posture, distance, movement, attention, and the senses select from a wider field. Hansen calls affectivity the body’s capacity to feel its own intensity and open possibilities for action that were not decided in advance.
Embodied framing does not add pixels or necessarily change the file. It turns information into a situated experience. For Hansen, the digital image therefore does not exist completely apart from the body that perceives and acts with it.
Open the same photograph on a computer and a phone. Before comparing them, check that both versions preserve the same file, date, dimensions, full frame, and associated text.
First view it from a distance on the larger screen, then hold the phone close to your face without zooming. Notice which detail appears first and how much your eyes, head, or hand must move. Then change the distance, rotate the device, and enlarge one area. Scale, posture, gesture, and attention reorganize the experience even though the file still imposes its limits.
This does not prove that the body invents the content or that every reading is valid. It shows that the experienced image depends on a relation among data, device, and embodied framing. What changed in the file, and what changed only in your way of perceiving it?

The analogy makes the body visible as an active participant, but it also introduces an error: it treats information as a substance that enters, is processed, and ends up assimilated. Hansen’s embodied framing is neither a linear chain nor a simple filter. Posture, movement, memory, attention, and affect can produce a new experience without consuming the information or reducing it to a single reading.
